Hey. I'm a Cuban-American who grew up in Los Angeles. Since high school, I've been reporting on my hometown's scenes in art, film, fashion, music, food—"culture," I guess you'd call it.
I've worked on local newspapers as a staff writer and editor, built and grew a media site, and won some awards along the way. Today, I'm a freelance journalist with bylines in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, W Magazine, Bon Appétit, i-D, Vox, and elsewhere.
For friends and brands I love, I'll throw on the occasional flak hat to work on press releases, outreach, strategies, event planning, and other PR stuff. I also edit, talk on panels+pods+shows, and do all the fun stuff writers should do.
